More details
Ajmodadi Choorna is a classical Ayurvedic polyherbal formulation widely used for Amavata, which is the Ayurvedic correlate for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). From an Ayurvedic perspective, Amavata is primarily caused by Ama (undigested toxins) and Vata Dosha vitiation, often accompanied by Kapha vitiation. The ingredients in AjmodadiChoorna (like Ajmoda, Haridra, Chitrak, Pippali, etc.) are potent Deepana (digestive stimulants) and Pachana (digestive). They work to “digest” or metabolize the Ama, preventing its accumulation in the joints and channels, which is key to managing Amavata.
- Vata:The pungent (Katu) and hot (Ushna) potency (Virya) of the herbs helps in pacifying aggravated Vata, which is responsible for pain, stiffness, and dryness in the joints. It helps normalize the movement of Vata.
- Kapha:The warming and drying nature of the choorna helps reduce excessive Kapha, which contributes to swelling, heaviness, and stiffness in the joints.
By reducing Ama and pacifying Vata, the choorna effectively helps in alleviating joint pain, which is a hallmark symptom of RA. Amavata is often rooted in compromised digestive fire (Agni Manda). By clearing blockages (srotorodha) caused by Ama and balancing the Doshas, it helps restore proper circulation and nourishment to the joints, promoting their health and function.
